Honduras Ana Cecilia Rouco Microlot 12oz.

Very sweet and balanced, a medium body mingled with a tea like acidity, flavors of chocolate, caramel, dried fruit and toasted nuts.

Ana Cecilia Rouco is a member of the coffee cooperative COCOSAM from the west central area of Honduras, a subregion of Maracala; San Marcos de Colon. For years her coffee has been blended into the cooperatives mix and sold as Honduras Marcala. In 2009, with the vision of a few quality minded roasters and a coffee importer, a Cup of Excellence style competition was set up within the cooperative. Each farmer turned in a sample of their coffee which was cupped blind and scored. Prices were set on how well each farmers lot scored, transparent to everyone. Ana Cecilia Rouco’s lot scored 87.09 placing sixth in the cooperative. She is now not just another unknown producer from somewhere in Honduras; we know how much she was paid (twice that of fair trade), what varietals of coffee she grows (bourbon and catuai) and how she manages her farm. One more farmer out of obscurity.
