The Gayo Organic Coffee Farmers Association is an organic fair trade coffee cooperative located in the Gayo Highlands of the Aceh province of Sumatra, Indonesia. The almost two thousand members of the Co-op are small scale coffee farmers dedicated to producing 100% certified organic, shade grown coffee, all in the semi-washed processing type. In a region known for political conflict, the Co-op has continued to produce, process, and export high quality coffee year after year. With 112 containers of coffee exported each year, the task of picking just the right lot can be a challenge (each lot varies quite a bit from amazing to terrible). After cupping samples for over two months we chose this stellar lot.
